Pokemon RPG For Switch Not Turn Based - Rumour
The rumours have begun.
Much like many other unreleased games, the Pokemon game for the Nintendo Switch is starting to get rumours being spread about it. The one mentioned in this article involves the battle system that will be used in the game. This said rumour suggests that the latest iteration of the series won't have the traditional turn based system that we're all familiar with; instead there will be a real time action combat system at our disposal.
The source behind this rumour is a Chinese based group who previously correctly leaked that Team Rainbow Rocket would be in Ultra Sun & Moon. Apparently Switch's Pokemon game will feature a "simplified battle system" that's comparable to the Digimon World series.
As well as the turn based system being removed, the rumour also mentions that the Chinese localisation team has already completed translating the game's script, meaning that the latest addition is a decent way into development. There won't be any new Mega Evolutions, however it's unclear if the feature will be making a comeback.
Z-Moves will be making a return however; you'll supposedly be able to use these moves with the Joy Con's motion controls. In case you weren't aware, Z-Moves are special types of moves that were introduced in Gen 7 in which a trainer and their Pokemon's wishes combine to release an attack comprising the power of both. While very powerful, they can only be used once per match.
The plot will be focused on tradition vs innovation, which sounds interesting. The region that Switch's Pokemon game takes place in is rumoured to be inspired by Italy or Spain. The rumoured release for this game is late 2018 or early 2019.
