PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Aiming To Run At 60fps On Xbox One X [UPDATE]
Gotta aim for that glorious 60fps.
Update - Brendan Greene has clarified that PUBG will run at 30fps on all Xbox devices (this includes the Xbox One X). Original story is below.
While I previously stated PUBG would run at higher FPS at XGP launch on 12/12, I want to clarify that PUBG will run at 30 FPS across all @Xbox One devices. We’re constantly refining the game & exploring options to increase FPS, but this early in dev, we’re unable to confirm more.— PLAYERUNKNOWN (@PLAYERUNKNOWN) December 1, 2017
Way back in July, we found out that PC smash hit PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds was making its way over to Xbox One; it was running at 30 - 40fps even in 100 player populated servers.
Brendan Greene talked to game magazine Games TM (as noted by WCCTech) recently and said that the team has been pushing for 60fps on the Xbox One X version. He continued to say that they will aim for 60fps on the Xbox One version, though it might not be possible.
"Definitely on Xbox One X, 60fps. One Xbox One, we're not so sure. We may have to limit it to 30fps, maybe, but the last time I saw it, it was running at about 30 to 40" he told Games TM. "We're constantly improving it so, you know, the aim is to get to 60".
Greene thinks it's doable, but also acknowledges that frame rate isn't as important for a game like this compared to a twitch shooter. "Unlike the more high paced shooters, frame rate isn't that important".
One of the reasons why the game is launching on the Xbox One through the Game Review program is to allow the developer the opportunity to improve the game in a test environment before its official launch. Greene has "great faith" that PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will hit 60fps on both the Xbox One and Xbox One X versions.
Are you looking forward to playing PUBG on your Xbox? Does the frame rate particularly matter for a game like this? Let us know!
