Star Wars Battlefront 2 enters UK charts at No.2, sales down 60% from original
Latest Battlefront fails to claim the top spot in this week's charts.
Star Wars: Battlefront 2 has landed at No.2 in the UK charts during its first week on sale, failing to knock Call of Duty: WWII from the top spot.
Sales for the latest Battlefront game are down a huge 61 percent compared to that of the original Star Wars: Battlefront, which launched back in 2015. The game has also failed to find the same success as developer DICE's previous effort, Battlefield 1, with sales down 50 percent.
The drop in sales can no doubt be attributed to the ongoing controversy with the game's loot box system, which many fans considered to be pay-to-win, and which locked content such as iconic Star Wars characters behind pay walls. Microtransactions within the game have now been disabled until EA can get a grip on the matter, following a reported request from Star Wars owner Disney.
Call of Duty: WWII is now on its third week at the top of the charts, with FIFA 18 rounding out the Top 3.
New comers Pokemon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon entered the running at No.4 and No.5 respectively, with the Sims 4's console versions arriving at No.7 and Rockstar's L.A Noire Remaster in at No.8.
