Valve announces official Dota 2 card game
Artifact is due to release in 2018
The next video game from Valve has been announced, and no, it doesn't end with a "3".
Valve's latest game was teased for the first time at The International, Dota 2's 2017 championship. Titled Artifact, the game has been revealed as a card game set in the Dota 2 universe.
We haven't been given a look at the game in action yet, but it seems pretty complicated by CCG (collectable card game) standard. It'll include three different boards, and players will manage lanes, barrack building and creeps.
See the first teaser for Artifact in the video embedded above.
CCGs have been picking up in popularity following the success of Blizzard's Hearthstone, a card game set in the popular World of Warcraft universe. You can now play online card games for many of the most famous video game universes, including The Elder Scrolls and The Witcher, as well as classic games like Magic: The Gathering. We'll have to wait and see if Valve can crack the genre and rival the popularity of Hearthstone.
Can you see yourself mastering the ways of Artifact next year? Let us know!
