Netflix producing TV show based on Witcher series
The silver sword is coming to the silver screen.
Netflix has announced that it is developing a new series based around The Witcher novels, which many will be familiar with from CD Projekt's popular game series.
Series author Andrzej Sapkowski is on board as a creative consultant for the show, which is being co-produced by Netflix, Sean Daniel and Jason Brown, who have previously worked on Ben-Hur and The Mummy franchise.
"I am thrilled that Netflix will be doing adaptation of my stories, staying true to the source material and the themes that I have spent over thirty years writing,"said Sapkowski.
Tomas Baginski, the director behind The Witcher game's stunning CGI intro videos, has also joined the project and will direct at least one episode of the new series.
Producers Daniel and Brown were unable to shed any light on what part of the universe the new series will focus on, saying "The Witcher stories follow an unconventional family that comes together to fight for truth in a dangerous world. The characters are original, funny and constantly surprising and we can't wait to bring them to life at Netflix, the perfect home for innovative storytelling."
There is no news yet on casting or release date, but we can expect the TV show to at least match Game of Thrones' boobs-per-minute ratio.
