A new AAA title is in the works for 2019's fiscal year as well.
Ubisoft noted in its financial report yesterday that we can expect a new Assassin's Creed
game as well as Far Cry 5
, which are rumoured to have an Egyptian and western setting, respectively, within the current fiscal year (1st April - 31st March 2018).
Two other major titles are expected this fiscal year; namely South Park: The Fractured But Whole
and The Crew
2. Currently there are no release windows, however South Park is slated for a Q3 release this year unless it sees another delay. We should be seeing these 4 titles being released by the end of March next year. Ubisoft said it expected the titles to ship 28 million
Check out these snazzy logos:
The Crew has proven popular, having 12 million players, which warrants a sequel according to the Ubisoft call to investors. Back in 2016
, the game had 5 million players, so that's a humongous jump for the player base.
Whilst we're on the topic of Ubisoft, as a brand new IP is on the way. During their 2017 fiscal year financials, they mentioned about Far Cry 5 and a new Assassin's Creed game and how they'll release before 31st March 2018. They discussed at length about how well they've done over the previous financial year with new IP and reboots. Ubisoft even congratulated itself on "winning the battle for time" with increased engagement across multiplayer and online titles. The company warned investors that it intends to move focus away from churning out new boxed releases.
We've covered this above, but Ubisoft has 5 major releases planned for the current fiscal year; a new Assassin's Creed, Far Cry 5, South Park: The Fractured But Whole, The Crew 2, and one other. This extra one is not planned for this fiscal year, rather the upcoming one. This one is a new IP, so expect to see something completely fresh and different.
