Worry about every bullet, take cover, and defend.

As you know, Sledgehammer Games is taking this year's entry back to its roots, however this little tidbit will take us way back to the first Call Of Duty.
It's been confirmed that this year's addition to the series won't be reviving automatic health regen (like what I did there?) and auto ammo refill, so you'll have to be extra careful out there. Fun fact, the regen mechanic was first introduced in Call Of Duty 2.
Glen Schofield of Sledgehammer Games
said that there's a system in the game that's replaced health regen, and the decision was made for the gameplay to be thematically consistent with the story and characters.
"You have to worry about every bullet. You're not the superhero. You can't just stand there taking seven bullets, ducking, shooting again", states Schofield. "It's refreshing for us to deal with recruits who aren't Tier One warriors, to show that vulnerability. They're naive. It's been a really cool challenge creating this different kind of gameplay".
Whilst the new mechanic that will replace health regen hasn't been spoken about, a different interview
reveals that co-founder Michael Condrey said that your squad members will have different abilities you can rely on; perhaps that's how you get fresh ammo and med packs?
"Part of being this squad and working together was about helping each other out in a very different way than in previous games" said Condrey.
"This is [you] relying on your squad, and so that was a mechanic where you can rely on your squad members to help you, and in that case - when you're low on ammo - your squad can share ammo. Certain members of your squad have certain attributes that can help you, and if you are in proximity to one of your squad members, and you need their help you can... it's an active ability".
Squad members with unique skills are of course a key element of battle, but what happens if you're not near one of them, or if you lose one of them? You'll need to rethink your strategy, such as preserving your ammo if you're not near your re-supplier.
