Nintendo confirms Wii U production has come to an end
It's the end of the road for the Wii U.
Nintendo has finally confirmed that production for Wii U will be coming to an end shortly.
Reports and rumours have been circling around Nintendo putting a stop to Wii U's production, and Kotaku reports that the console's website confirms "production is scheduled to end soon... in Japan".
Nintendo of America confirmed that they will not be shipping any further Wii U consoles, stating "all Wii U hardware that will be made available in the North American market for this fiscal year has already been shipped to our retail partners,
"We encourage anyone who wants Wii U to communicate with their preferred retail outlet to monitor availability."
Wii U sold 13.6 million colsoles during its short time on the market. In comparison, Wii sold 101.63m units, NES sold 61.91m, SNES 49.10m and Gamecube 21.74m.
