Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA V) dominates UK charts
GTA V sales are 2.4 times higher than GTA IV.
Grand Theft Auto 5 has become the UK's No.1 best selling game this week, an achievement that won't come as a surprise to pretty much anyone.
According to Chart-Track, GTA V has broken the five day sales record for any video game ever. The has so far had sales that are 2.4 times greater than GTA IV's, selling $800m worth of copies on it's first day alone, making a sweet $1bn within the first 3 days of release. If that doesn't sound bonkers enough already, the previous fastest selling game ever (Call of Duty: Black Ops II) sold 250,000 copies less than Grand Theft Auto 5.
GTA V has accounted for 89 per cent of this week's entire sales, with Chart-Track commenting that "it is hard to imagine a week where one title has been so dominant or perhaps ever will.'
The game sold 57 per cent of their copies on the Xbox 360, with PS3 following closely behind with 43 % of the sales.
Elsewhere in the charts, Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 has placed at a respectable 2nd place after last Friday's release. The Last of Us has made a reappearance in the top ten, climbing from 27th to 3rd place due to a PlayStation 3 hardware bundle.
