A New Animal Crossing Trademark Has Been Filed By Nintendo
Could it be?
Us Animal Crossing fans have been desiring a new entry in the franchise ever since the Nintendo Switch was first released. Sure, we have Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, but it's not a full Animal Crossing experience. It's a nice entry to keep the fans busy for a while, but it's restrictive in a way as you only have 1 goal - create a campsite. You're limited to where you can go, too. I miss the wide open spaces (*insert Madagascar reference here*).
We may not have to wait as long as expected, however. Nintendo has filed for a brand spanking new Animal Crossing trademark in Japan. What this means for the franchise, we're not 100% sure. The trademark is in Japanese, however a translation says "software for a home video game machine, portable electronic game machine, and smartphone devices". We've already received a mobile entry, so that just leaves the other two. Could this possibly be a hint to a proper Animal Crossing game? I hope so.
The trademark also mentions things like stuffed animals, board games, controllers, cases, playing cards (perhaps referencing Amiibo Cards, though it's not confirmed), trading card games, and more. This means that there may be more lovely merchandise, as well as a new Animal Crossing game on the way at some point.
This is in no way a confirmation that a new Animal Crossing game is on the way, though it is interesting that a new trademark has been filed.
Any ideas as to what could materialise in the future (near or far)? If so, let us know below!
