Single Player GT League, 12 New Cars, And More Make Their Way Into GT Sport In Latest Update
It's in a league of its own.
When it first launched, GT Sport was criticised for not having a single player mode, however your wishes have been granted!
Polyphony Digital scheduled a special maintenance period for today, and the players received the notification for a large 2.7GB update when the servers went down. This includes a sack of upgrades and an additional general patch which fixes minor bugs and increases stability.
I hope you're sitting comfortably, because there's a lot of content to read through!
To begin with, there's been the addition of the new GT League. This introduces 15 series with 45 races to complete; they're not all the same either. They range from the classic Sunday Cup to a pair of 60 minute endurance races. 4 leagues are available to you, and your level in the game determines your eligibility. So if you've just started and you wanna jump into the higher up leagues, I'm afraid we've got a bit of bad news for you.
There aren't any championship style point systems in the league, you simply run each race separately. A tally of how many wins you've bagged yourself for each event will be kept.
12 sweet rides have been added, so you're spoilt for choice on which one you want to play test first. Here's the full list:
- Mazda RX-7 Spirit R Type A (FD) (N300)
- Nissan Skyline GT-R V・spec II (R32) (N300)
- Nissan Skyline GT-R V・spec II Nur (R34) (N300)
- Ford F-150 SVT Raptor (N400)
- Lamborghini Countach LP400 (N400)
- Ferrari F40 (N500)
- Ferrari Enzo Ferrari (N700)
- KTM X-BOW R(N300)
- Suzuki Swift Sport (N100)
- Volkswagen Samba Bus Type 2 (T1) (N100)
- Chris Holstrom Concepts 1967 Chevy Nova (N700)
- Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible (C3) (N300)
New Track Layouts
2 new track layouts have been thrown into this huge update, Kyoto's Yamagiwa and Miyabi circuits have been fused together creating a mega track simply named the Yamigiwa+Miyabi layout. It comes in 2 variatons - regular and reverse. If you're driving the original Yamigiwa layout, you'll find yourself on the reverse Miyabi, and the same is true the other way round.
Polyphony has added a handful of new Scapes to the game, and of course these ones focus on the holiday season. I do love me some festivities. Tomorrow (23rd December) marks the series' 20th anniversary and calls this the "Holiday Season Update". and you'll receive 6 festive backgrounds. Naturally there's some Christmas music in the main menu, so you continue to feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
FIA Championship Challenge
A new challenge approaches for the tail end of the ongoing weekly FIA pre-season series. It's called the "Top 24 Superstars" and it'll match the top drivers against each other for even more points. Here's what the description says in the patch notes: "In the FIA Championships within Sport mode, a ‘Top 24 Superstars’ race will be held as the final round of each race season. This will be a single race within the final round, where only one group will be matched among the top drivers. In this race you will earn more points than a standard race".
Check out the full patch notes here.
Hopefully you won't get stuck in 2nd gear, be sure to check out this huge amount of new content!
