Microsoft Seeking To Acquire More Studios & Will "Probably" Introduce A Game Streaming Service Within Next Few Years
Phil Spencer talks about Xbox's future.
Microsoft's Executive Vice President of Gaming recently spoke about their desire to bring more studios under its wing, and the possibility of them releasing a streaming service that players can access without a console. Consider me intrigued. "We need to grow, and I look forward to doing that" said Spencer. "Our ability to go create content has to be one of our strengths. We haven't always invested at the same level. We've gone through ups and downs in the investment".
The way that the Xbox division measures success goes beyond console sales, which are behind the PS4, and focuses on sales of software and services, which have gone up as console sales have dropped. Spencer also believes that a game streaming service is in the company's future, no crystal ball required.
Spencer said that Microsoft would "probably debut a streaming service that doesn't require a console for some types of content in the next 3 years". Internal tests of said system in 2012 did prove too costly; however it's likely to come to fruition down the road at some point.
What do you think about a game streaming service for Xbox? Would you be up for it? Chime in below as always!
