Sony Announces Updated PSVR Headset Model, Existing Headsets Won't Receive Upgrade
New upgrade incoming.
The PSVR headset has been out in the wild for just less than a year now, and it won't be alone for long. Sony has announced a newer model that comes with new features.
"The new version, model number CUH-ZVR2 features an updated design that enables the stereo headphone cables to be integrated with the VR headset and a slimmer, streamlined connection cable" said Sony. "There's also an updated Processor Unit that supports HDR pass through, enabling users to enjoy HDR-compatible PS4 content on a TV without having to disconnect the Processor Unit in between the TV and PS4 system. This function can be used only when the VR headset is turned off".
Those of you with the original edition won't be able to swap the processor units due to the cables being different. That being said, all PSVR games will be compatible with both models.
The new PSVR headset will be available in Japan on 14th October. European and North American release dates are yet to be announced.
