Overwatch Season 6 changes include shorter Competitive Play seasons
More changes coming to Overwatch with Season 6
Blizzard has more changes in the pipeline for Overwatch as Season 6 approaches.
As revealed in the latest developer updates, players will now see shorter competitive seasons in Overwatch, with the season length being brought down to two months as opposed to the usual three.
Players from the Overwatch beta will remember the extremely short one month seasons, which players didn't feel gave them enough time to reach their rightful place on the ladder. Blizzard hopes that bringing the season down to two months will strike a happy medium.
To compensate for the loss of a competitive month, Blizz will increase the amount of CP (competetive points) you can earn per match, to help you save up for those coveted golden weapons.
Elsewhere among the update, the developer revealed that Control maps will be transfer over to a best of three format instead of the usual Bo5. This change is made in the hope of reducing frustration when a match goes into overtime, and allowing players to fit more games in during a play session.
Blizzard are also making it so you'll be placed closer to your real rank when you complete your 10 placement matches at the start of a season. You'll also only have to play 5 matches a week to avoid decay, down from 7.
Seems like some reasonable changes to us. What do you make of Overwatch's Season 6 update? Drop a comment.
