Loot Chests To Feature In Shadow Of War

Middle Earth: Shadow Of War is the next game to receive the loot box treatment. You can buy these said loot boxes with either in-game currency, but if you want to hurry things along, you can acquire additional gold using real money.
Monolith Productions announced yesterday that loot boxes would be available in Shadow Of War, and there are two different varieties - Loot Chests and War Chests. Other items are available through the store such as XP boosts and bundles. In order to buy these items, you can spend either Mirian or Gold earned throughout the game as you progress.
- Loot Chests - contain Gear (weapons and armour) of varying rarity. Upon equipping and upgrading these weapons and armour, Talion's character ability are enhanced
- War Chests - provide Orc followers of varying rarity to help forge a strong army. You can find Training Orders in here to level up and customise Orc followers
- XP boosts - these help Talion level up faster
- Bundles - packaged up Loot chests, War chests, and boosts together
Mirian, the game's in-game currency, can be acquired by defeating Treasure Orcs, destroying gear, finding Mirian stashes, and destroying Orc followers for gear which can then be destroyed for Mirian. Gold can be used to access higher level Loot Chests, War Chests, Boosts, and Bundles; this can be acquired by through the Playstation Store, Xbox Store, or it can be added to your Steam Wallet. Gold will also be awarded in small amounts at specific milestones and participating in community challenges.
The revamped Nemesis System, which allows the player to dominate Orcs to gain their loyalty as a follower, can be bypassed using the marketplace to acquire Orcs.
Monolith stated that no content within Shadow Of War is locked behind a gate, as it can all be accessed through normal gameplay.
