Wii U production will come to an end this week, says new report
Fare thee well, old friend.
Nintendo is putting a stop to the production of Wii U on November 4th, a new report has claimed.
Eurogamer reports that the final order for Wii U units was October 31st, and production for the Wii U will stop for good once these final consoles have gone through the production line.
Launching back in 2012, Wii U sold 13.36 million units during its short lifespan, coming in well below Nintendo's anticipated 100 million projected sales.
It follows Nintendo's latest console announcement for the Nintendo Switch, which is due out in March 2017. The platform holder is currently preparing to unveil launch titles and specs for the Switch on January 12th.
Nintendo is yet to confirm that Wii U will come out of production, but the timing seems right considering the impending release of Nintendo Switch.
