PlayStation 4 System Update 4.0 lands today, brings HDR support and more
Latest firmware coming to PS4 today.
Sony is launching the latest firmware update for PS4 today, including a number of key features.
Surprisingly, the update includes the addition of High Dynamic Range (HDR) functionality to all PlayStation 4 consoles. Fans expected HDR to be a PS4 Pro exclusive, and Sony caught some heat last week when the feature wasn't revealed alongside the new console - now we know why.
The update also includes a host of other improvements, such as a revamped Quick Menu, updated What’s New and Content Info screen, and more. Check out the round-up below or see the full post at the Playsation Blog.
Updated Quick Menu
The Quick Menu is now easier to access without leaving your game and comes with customisation options. Enhanced music section allows the user to control spotify without needing to open the app.
High Dynamic Range (HDR)
Every PS4 console is now a HDR enabled device as of Update 4.0.
PlayStation 4 Pro Updates
In anticipation of the release of PS4 Pro on November 10, 2016, a number of features that will support the system’s ability to output high-resolution content have been added. This update will enable the following on PS4 Pro:
- 1080p streaming for Remote Play on PC/Mac and compatible Xperia devices
- 1080p streaming for Share Play
- 1080p 30/60fps live broadcasting on YouTube
- 1080p 30fps live broadcasting on Twitch
Organize your apps and games how you like them with the addition of folders.
Data Transfer To New PS4
Transfer your data from one PS4 to another via wired LAN connection.
