PlayStation VR pre-orders open at GameSeek.
Sony has announced that PlayStation VR is releasing this October.
Speaking to attendees at a private GDC session, Sony confirmed that over 230 developers are currently working on software for the virtual reality headset, with 50 games expected to be available to play on it between October and the end of the year.
The latest headset specs are similar to those from the prototypes: 5.7" OLED screen at a resolution of 1920 x RGB x 1080 (960 x RGB x 1080 for each eye), field view of approx 100 degrees, featuring 9 motion tracking LEDs for full 360 degree immersive movement, with less than 18ms latency.
The retail package comes with headphones, cables and a processing box that hooks up to the PS4. It does not include a PlayStation Camera - those will need to be picked up separately. It supports DualShock 4, so you won't need to spend extra on Move controllers.
PlayStation VR will also support standard PS4 games, movies and more via Cinematic mode.
Here's the list of launch games:
- Eagle Flight (Ubisoft)
- EVE: Valkyrie (CCP Games)
- Headmaster (Frame Interactive)
- Rez Infinite (Enhance Games)
- Wayward Sky (Uber Entertainment)
- RIGZ: Mechanized Combat League (SCE WWS)
- Tumble VR (SCE WWS)
- Until Dawn: Rush of Blood (SCE WWS)
- PlayStation VR Worlds (SCE WWS)
