Halo 5 Guardians campaign will have a Co-Op focus
Halo 5 is focusing more on co-op throughout the story.
343 Industries has recently announced that Halo 5 will have four characters in each fireteam which is present throughout the whole story in both solo and co-op play.
A feature added to co-op play is the ability to drop in and out of the game and to have the choice to take control of three AI characters. So even if people drop out, an AI will take their place and continue the adventure by your side.
One character of each fireteam in co-op will be Master Chief or Agent Locke.
While also focusing on fireteams, the game has bigger environments and tougher enemies than before which encourages you to work with your fireteam and to effectively.
When playing solo as Master Chief or Agent Locke, players can give contextual commands to the fireteam. One of the available commands mentioned is the revive command. If the character dies, he/she will respawn when you reach the next checkpoint.
With all the new co-op features being added, this also means that a sacrifice had to be put in place as split-screen co-op will no longer be an available feature. This would mean more time being spent on addressing split-screen specific issues and optimization than spending time on the other features being made if split-screen was still an option.
