Command the seas, control the land, forge a new nation, and conquer the globe. Empire: Total War takes the Total War franchise to the eighteenth century Age of Enlightenment - a time of political upheaval, military advancements, and radical thought, captured in stunning detail in Empire: Total War.

Empire: Total War introduces a host of revolutionary new features, including true 3D naval combat. For the first time in the Total War series, you will be able to intuitively command single ships or vast fleets upon seascapes rich with extraordinary water and weather effects that play a huge role in your eventual glorious success or ignominious defeat. After pummeling your enemy with cannon fire, close in to grapple their ship and prepare to board, taking control of your men as they fight hand-to-hand on the decks of these wooden behemoths.

In addition, Empire: Total War will see further enhancements to the Total War series' signature 3D battles and turn-based campaign map. Real-time battles will pose new challenges with the addition of cannon and musket, challenging players to master new formations and tactics as a result of the increasing role of gunpowder within warfare. And the Campaign Map - for many, the heart of Total War - introduces a variety of new and upgraded elements, including new systems for Trade, Diplomacy and Espionage with agents; a refined and streamlined UI; improved Advisors; and a vastly extended scope, taking in the riches of India, the turbulence of Europe and, for the first time, the untapped potential of the United States of America.

Amazing game
Well Garry P you must have a rubbish pc because I have a mid range custom build pc and the graphics are amazing with no glitches. This is my first TW game and I have been an AOE fan but this is loads better and is a must buy and it should not be sat on a shelf because there might be a few glitches but otherwise it is amazing. Buy it !!!!

Well! What can I say?
If I thought the demo was bad - the game is a total let down certainly not helped by the fact that it is ’Steam’ powered!! So many areas of this game were unready for release - Campaign Map lag in the graphics, misidentification of points on the Map - I had a complete fleet lost as I had to disband it because the game saw it as landlocked NEXT TO AN ISLAND IN THE PACIFIC. I played the short Campaign for Britain and got Queen Victoria as my Monarch in 1717!! Followed by a Queen Louise! I have made it to 1745 by sheer perseverance and much frustration at having to wait and wait for the treacle graphics to do their bit and now each time I try to let the other Nations have their turns it just Crashes to Desktop each time. The patches we’ve had so far are totally controlled by Steam again and do very little to address the main gameplay problems - STICKY GRAPHICS on systems that have no problems playing the other TW games on the highest settings possible! - IT’S NOT ON!! The balanced view is that it has the potential to be a phenomenal game but until these issues are cleared up don’t buy - mine is going to sit on the shelf untouched now along with other all hype and no substance games like ******ins Creed.

Disastorous Demo!
I downloaded the DEMO version mainly to see how the naval battles would be handled (as a seasoned Total War gamer) and basically the main problem was that you have to go online with ’Steam’ to play. The whole programme was ’steam powered’ - very slow and sticky so virtually unusable. Fortunately the naval battle tutorial was the one aspect that did work - ’JUST’! The game quality looks brilliant and control of the ships is just right. I can only pray that when it is installed fully on my computer the game will run with Total War’s usual excellence! Rated 1/5 for the DEMO only! I’ll review again when I have the full version but is getting into bed with ’Steam’ the right thing to have done??
