1970s South African drama focusing on the powerful friendship between two children. Jannie (Norman Knox) becomes an orphan when his parents are killed in a car accident and he is subsequently sent to a missionary in a village where the young Tsepo (Muntu Ndebele) lives. The two boys become friends and spend their time playing together with their dog, Sugarball. But when Jannie is badly hurt during a game and requires medical treatment in New York, the friends face being separated for the first time since they met.
