It has become apparent that certain builds of Windows XP running the Internet Explorer 6 web browser may expereince problems using the accounts area and shopping cart of Gameseek.co.uk. We are attempting to locate a solution to this, but it appears that they are caused by, according to Microsoft: 'Internet Explorer 6 implementing advanced cookie filtering' and various bugs related to the advanced Internet Explorer 6 engine.......A number of our customers (and ourselves) have solved this problem by using an alternative web browser such as Mozilla Firefox which can be downloaded completely free of charge here: Get Firefox! How do I search for items?
The easiest way to find items is to use the "Search Gameseek"
field located at the top of each page. You can select and search
in singular categories or do a general search that covers all the
categories on the website. Searching can be done by selecting inside
the search box, then typing the specified details and clicking on
"Go". Try to keep your search simple, for example: If
you are searching for Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, instead of typing
the phrase "Grand Theft Auto San Andreas" by entering just one word
in the search, eg. "Theft" or "Andreas", you will find what you
are looking for much easier.
Alternatively you can search for items by category. This type
of search will pick up a more broader range of results. For example
if you wanted to view a list of Racing games for the Playstation
2 console, you would first click on "Sony PS2" situated
underneath the "Browse Platform" box on top left of the
site. You will now be on the Playstation 2 homepage that lists everything
for the Playstation 2 console. If you browse down the category list
on the left hand side of the page you will see the Racing category
situated beneath "PS2 Games". Click on "Racing"
and you will be able to browse our entire range of Playstation 2
Racing Products.(click here to go back to
the top)
What are your Speciality Shops?
This is just another way of searching for your favourite products.
You will notice that "Speciality Shops" are situated one
section below the "Browse Platform" box on top left of
the site. You will notice that there is 12 shops already listed
in this box (eg. Joytech, Logic 3, Logitech etc.) Click on any of
these stores or alternatively click on the "View all Stores"
button and it will take you to the store
list. Here you will find suppliers of all the games & accessories
stocked by us. By clicking on any of the company logos you will
be directed to a unique specialist page for that supplier. To change
the company selection, simply click on any other letter in the alphabet.(click

What is Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode?
3D Secure is a new technical standard developed by Visa and MasterCard to further secure CNP (Cardholder Not Present) transactions over the Internet. MasterCard brand their system as 'MasterCard SecureCode' and Visa call theirs 'Verified by Visa'. It requires the cardholder to provide a personal password or pin number when paying for goods online with their credit card just as they would provide a pin on the high street. This ensures that the shopper is who they say they are when providing card details to an online shop. Cardholders are reassured that when they sign up their card is protected from fraudulent use on the internet. For more information about this please click here.

consignments are sent via Parcelforce Worldwide courier, with in-stock
items being despatched within 24 - 48 hours. If an item is out of
stock it is ordered from our suppliers same day and is despatched
as soon as it comes into stock. It is always possible an item will

which case the despatch of the item will be affected by its availability
from our suppliers. Delivery can normally be expected within 3 -
6 working days from the date of despatch, however adverse weather
conditions in the Channel Islands, routine customs & excise checks
and/or Royal Mail delays can sometimes affect delivery times. Because
of this we are unable to start tracing lost packets until 15 days
have elapsed since the date of despatch. Please contact us if you

further. If an item proves to be lost in the post we will always
send a replacement free of charge. (click here to

We send our items via First Class Royal Mail Packet Post from the
UK. Heavier items are sent by Parcelforce 24 delivery. The Royal
Mail state that 90% of their First Class mail arrives the next day,
but if yours doesn't they have the following advice:
Is it less than 4 working days since your mail should have arrived?
If so, hold tight, it's probably on its way but may have been held
up by an incomplete address, no Postcode, or unusual circumstances.
Is it 4 to 10 days since your mail should have been delivered?
If so, your mail is officially delayed and you should check with
your neighbours to see if a parcel has been left with them, check
any outhouses you might have where mail may be left if it cannot
fit through your letterbox and contact your local sorting office
to see if the item has been returned to the depot as undelivered
and awaiting collection. You can locate your local depot here.
Have 14 days past since you item was posted to you?
The Royal Mail will now class your item as lost and we will either
send you a replacement or give you a refund. Please send us an email,
to myorder@gameseek.co.uk,
stating your order reference number and confirming that you have
never received the item as we will pursue the issue with the Royal
Mail for compensation and we will ask you to fill in a P91 form
to be used as evidence. We cannot refund or replace items that the
Royal Mail has lost until 14 days have passed. Please make sure
that your address details are entered correctly and accurately.
We cannot be responsible for delivery problems caused by inadequate
address details. Please note: You must contact us within 21 days
of the item being posted, otherwise we might no longer be able to
claim for the missing goods. If we cannot claim compensation
for the missing goods, then we will not be able to refund you for
the lost item(s).

Returns
How do I return an item?
You have the right to cancel the contract relating to your order
at any time up to the end of 7 working days after you receive the
goods. To exercise your right of cancellation, you must give written
notice to Gameseek by email giving details of the goods ordered
and date received. Notification by phone is not acceptable. If you
exercise your right of cancellation after the goods have been delivered
to you, you will be responsible for returning the goods to Gameseek
at your own cost. All returned Items must be in the original packaging
and sent to us within seven days from receipt. Returned goods must
be still sealed, unopened and in perfect condition. Goods
that do not comply with this may not be returned.
Please Note: Do Not Return any item before contacting us first.
Most Returns can be prevented if customers contact the manufacturer
of the goods before contacting us. For example, its likely if a
small part of a product is broken or damaged then the manufacturer
will send out a replacement part free of charge.
Our Returns procedure involves customers receiving a Returns Authorisation
number before sending the item back. Without this RA number you
will not be able to return any item. If you do so, the return will
not be dealt with. So please contact us first. If the return is
agreed by us then you will need to put the RA number (that we will
give you) clearly marked on the outside of the parcel and on a note
inside the parcel. This helps us deal with returns more effectively
and efficiently.
You may return any unopened item within
7 days of receiving it, for a full refund. We will refund your card
once we have received and processed the item. We will only refund
delivery costs if the return is a result of our error. We cannot
refund or exchange an opened item unless it is faulty, or if the
item was sent to you through our error.
You are advised to package the product adequately as we cannot accept
liability for any damage incurred during delivery back to Gameseek.

under the Distance Selling Act if you have collected goods or if:
the goods were delivered outside the UK, or if the order is for
computer software which has been unsealed, or if you are not a consumer

I Have received a game that is not Shrink Wrapped - does this mean it is not new?
It is a fact that most games, sold on the UK market, do not come shrink wrapped or with any form of factory seal. It is very common for games for other consoles to arrive with no shrink wrap. They come direct from the manufacturer like this. In most cases it is the retailer that actually reseals the item. We do take great care to ensure that all the products that we supply arrive in the best possible condition. (click here to go back to the top)
What is regional coding? Regional coding is a system implemented by games and film companies to allow them to control when products are released throughout the world. It stops people watching movies or playing games earlier than the companies intended. The UK is based in PAL or Region 2. This means that if you live in the UK you will only be able to play PAL games or watch Region 2 DVD / UMD Films on your player unless your player is Multi Region compatible. Gameseek only sell PAL items and Region 2 DVD or UMD products.
There are six regions: Region 1 - USA and Canada Region 2 - UK, Europe, Japan, South Africa and the Middle East Region 3 - South East Asia and East Asia Region 4 - Australia, New Zealand, Central and South America, Pacifica and the Caribbean Region 5 - Africa, India, Russia, North Korea and Mongolia Region 6 - China
What region is my Games Console? All UK & European Home Games Consoles are automatically coded to PAL.However, PC games can be bought and played on in any region as they are a Universal format. Also Handheld Consoles (eg. Sony PSP and Nintendo DS) are also Universal - they will play games from any region.(click here to go back to the top)
What is region PAL? PAL Items are only compatible in the UK, Europe, Australia & New Zealand. (click here to go back to the top)
What is region Universal? Universal Items are compatible with any hardware. It does not matter which country you bought the hardware from. Examples of Universal Products are: PC Games, Sony PSP Games and Nintendo DS Games. For example, you can play UK games on a Japanese Sony PSP or play Japanese games on a UK Sony PSP etc.(click here to go back to the top)
What region is my DVD player? All UK DVD players are automatically coded to region 2. If you aren't currently within the UK or are unsure, please refer to you DVD Instruction Booklet for conformation of your DVD player's regional settings. (click here to go back to the top)
What is region 2? Region 2 discs will only play on UK, Europe, Japan, South Africa and the Middle East DVD or UMD players. This is presuming your Player is not multi region compatible. If your Player is multi region compatible - it will play DVD's and UMD's from any region. Please refer to your DVD or UMD player instruction Booklet for conformation of your players regional settings. (click here to go back to the top)
What is region 0? Region 0 discs are essentially uncoded (no regional coding) discs and will play on any DVD or UMD player.(click here to go back to the top)
What is Dolby Sound? There are a number of different variations of Dolby:
Dolby Surround® is the earliest form of surround sound. It is a three-channel process meant to recreate a theatre experience. The Dolby stereo track is channelled into the front left and front right speakers. A mono signal is created electronically by comparing the differences between the left and right stereo signal. This is then fed to both rear speakers.
Dolby Pro Logic® is an advanced version of Dolby Surround, adding a centre channel speaker for music and effects. It is a four-channel system that directs the information to certain speakers. The four channels are the set of front speakers, one centre channel speaker and one rear speaker.
Dolby Pro Logic II® is a dramatically improved, updated matrix surround system, based on the principles used to develop the original Dolby Pro Logic decoding. It provides you with multichannel surround sound from any stereo source. Pro Logic II further enhances the sound with a full-range stereo surround output and a greatly improved steering logic, resulting in high channel separation and an exceptionally stable soundfield.
Dolby Digital® is a multichannel format introduced in 1996 and presents 6 discrete audio channels. (Also described as 5.1) 5 of the 6 channels carry the entire bandwidth of sound with the 6 the speaker or LFE (Low Frequency Effects) Channel carries all the low-bass sounds. This enables you to maximize your action-adventure sequences with fuller explosions and sound effects. You are still able to hear bass sounds from your left and right front speakers even without a subwoofer, but you won't experience the full impact of audio without a subwoofer.
Dolby Digital Surround EX® adds to Dolby Digital 5.1 movie soundtracks a third surround channel, reproduced by speakers positioned directly behind the audience. This extra rear surround channel works with the usual left and right surround channels to produce an intensified realism that draws you even further into the action. (click here to go back to the top)
What is DTS? There are two different variations of Digital Theatre Surround sound.
DTS Digital surround and Dolby Digital are almost the same. The basic difference between these two formats is the method of compression used to fit the original audio data files onto the DVD. In theory, DTS sound should reveal slightly better quality than Dolby Digital as it is less compressed, however in most cases you would be very hard pressed to tell them apart. This does however mean that since DTS sound takes more space to store on a DVD, there is sometimes not enough room for the same extra features that are to be found on non-DTS discs.
The DTS and Dolby formats are not compatible, and require their own branded decoding chips on AV receivers and processors, as well as separate digital outputs on DVD players. DTS and Dolby Digital will continue to co-exist in the marketplace.
DTS-ES represents the world's first 6.1-channel Discrete Surround format. Expanding upon 5.1 surround, it adds an additional dedicated centre surround channel. A new DTS-ES receiver is required to experience the full discrete 6.1-channel mix. At the same time, all DTS-ES discs will be fully compatible with 6.1 Matrix decoders and 5.1 Digital Surround. What is THX? THX is a set of technical specifications designed to standardize the performance of surround sound. George Lucas developed these standards shortly after the film "Star Wars" was created. He did so in order to standardise the audio and video experience in theatres across the world so that his films would be represented as they were made, essentially trying to recreate the original. Manufacturers of all theatre and A/V products have been giving a set of performance specifications that their products must meet in order to qualify for THX certification. THX is a certification that can be an indication of how well a product has been built - although it should not be the only indication. Some manufacturers choose not to participate in the certification program, preferring instead to build their product to their own specifications. (click here to go back to the top)
What are the Age ratings for Games? In the UK, age ratings for computer and video games are determined by a two-tier system that works within voluntary European guidelines known as PEGI and the mandatory BBFC regulations as determined by the Video Recordings Act of 1984. The voluntary PEGI system is one of the most robust in Europe and, in terms of rating criteria, is the strictest. It is supported by the entire value chain from software developer and hardware manufacturer through to publisher, distributor and retailer.

What is a Superbit DVD? Superbit™ titles utilise a high bit-rate digital transfer process which optimises video quality while offering a choice of both DTS and 5.1 Dolby Digital audio. Basically the disc space normally used for value-added content and multiple audio streams is now being used for optimising the picture and sound. Superbit™ DVDs are encoded at approximately double their normal bit-rate while maintaining full compatibility with the DVD-Video format. The result is picture quality that provides outstanding detail. Superbit™ DVDs play on all current DVD players and do not require any additional equipment. Currently DVDs are encoded to optimise space for the feature plus added value and audio streams. The Suberbit™ collection converts the physical space ordinarily devoted to added value to higher bit rate video transfer and both Dolby Digital 5.1 & DTS audio. (click here to go back to the top)

The game you have listed has now gone to budget label - will i receive the game in the original packaging or the budget packaging? We understand that some die hard gamers prefer to have the game in its original packaging so where possible we will allways send the original product. However once a game has been reduced to the budget label it means that the game is no longer made in its original packaging. Therefore we cannot guarantee that you will get the game in its original packaging. However most importantly: the game is exactly the same, its only the packaging that is different!
