Adding a Customer Review to a product Visit any product page and scroll down to the customer reviews section and click the Write your own Review here link. You can write a review now which includes giving the product a rating out of 5. With 5/5 being Excellent and 1/5 being poor. Click 'Submit' to submit your review, which will be submitted to our our approval process. If accepted, it should appear on the page for all to read! Please keep your Review relevant to the product you are reviewing, and please be honest! Do not include personal details, advertisements or links to other websites. Gameseek reserves the right to refuse publication of any content deemed unsuitable.
Social Bookmarking Social Bookmarking allows you to store links to your favourite online pages - including interesting stories, important products and essential information - both for your own personal reference, and to share with friends and the general public. To use social bookmarking, you need simply to register on any one of several specialist social bookmarking sites, and click the links provided on compatible web pages right across the net – such as those in our Share it section on Gameseek product pages.
The great thing about social bookmarking is that, where standard bookmarks are localised to your personal computer, online bookmarks allows you to keep a record online of your most visited pages and access them wherever you are in the world, from any computer terminal - and share them with anyone you wish. They are also a great alternative to search engines, with specialist sites offering literally thousands upon thousands of links sorted by topic, and indexed by real people. Where search engines give results based on keywords, categories on bookmark sites are sorted by the most popular views, by people that know their stuff, making getting the results you want fast and efficient with little hit-and-miss factor.
Facebook is one of the world's most popular social networking sites. It's a great way to connect with your friends and family, reconnect with long-lost mates and find out what's going on behind the scenes at your favourite companies - such as Gameseek!
How to Get Started It's free to join Facebook and getting started is really easy. All you need to do is go to Facebook.com - fill in your name, email address, password, gender and birthday then click the 'Sign Up' button. And that's it - you're ready to have some fun!
Once you're signed in, you can write a message in the 'What's on your mind?' box at the top of your page and it will get posted to your wall (more about walls later). If you're new to this, why not give it a go – and don't worry, there is always an option to delete it! Simply click the 'Remove' button, which appears when you hover your cursor anywhere on the message you want removed.
How Facebook works There are lots of things you can do on Facebook and if you want to explore you can find a lot of help at facebook.com/help - but to start you off, here's how all the items in Facebook's top blue menu bar work.
Home Your Home page acts like a feed that brings together everything the people you are connected to on Facebook are doing right now. You'll see what your friends are saying and be able to give their comments a 'thumbs up' if you like it by clicking 'Like'. You can also comment on what they've said using the box under their message or by clicking 'comment', then watch as the conversation grows!
As well as their status messages, this feed also collects your friends' latest photos and you'll be able to see who they've made new links to, what Facebook games they're playing and which companies they've become 'Fans' of. You can become a Fan of Gameseek by clicking here and then clicking the 'Become a fan' button at the top of the page.
Profile This is your page and it features Facebook's infamous 'Wall', which will be the default view. Everything you do on Facebook will be reflected here and you can add and delete things at will. Once you've written a few status messages in the 'What's on your mind?' box, you'll see them in order on your Wall with the most recent at the top. If you upload photos or become friends with someone new, these will also appear here.
Anyone who you are linked to on Facebook can add things to your Wall, which can make it a lot of fun. If you don't like what they've added you can delete it using the 'Remove' button. If you don't want certain people seeing your wall you can block it from their view by going to your 'Settings' then choosing 'manage' in the 'Privacy' section, then 'Profile Information'.
As well as the 'Wall', you'll also notice light blue tabs for 'Info', 'Photos', 'Boxes' and more. Each lets you customise your page in a different way.
In 'Info', select 'Edit Information' and fill in as little or as much as you want. If you are at all worried about privacy, just leave out the bits that tell people more than you want them to know!
The 'Boxes' tab collects all the games and applications you've joined. You'll be asked if you want to add an application to your box tab and you can choose to have it or not. You can always delete the boxes later and move them around by dragging that box's top blue panel. Another way to access your applications is through the little icons right at the bottom of the screen on the left.
Explore each tab - you'll find them quite self-explanatory and it won't take long for you to understand how they work.
Friends This is the place where you can search for the people you know. Put in your email address and Facebook will search for anyone who is in your email address book. You can also search using the 'Search for People' field and by school, university, and workplace.
Once you've linked up with some people you can search through their list of friends to see if there's anyone you know. When you find someone you want to link to, Facebook lets you invite them to be your friend. They will be alerted on this invitation and if they accept, you'll find them in your friends list and you'll start seeing their Facebook activity in the feed on your Home page.
If someone sends you an invitation to become his or her friend, you will find it in the top right section on your Home page. In fact you'll find all invitations there. You'll find that your friends will invite you to join all sorts of groups, fan pages and games! Click on each invitation and simply accept or ignore. The general advice is to accept friendship requests only from people you know.
Inbox This works just like your email. Message here will be private as opposed to the messages that are placed on your wall, which everyone can see. You can write a message by clicking '+ Compose' in your inbox or by going to a friend's Profile page and clicking 'Send (name) a message' under their profile picture. The inbox also stores the messages you've sent and any updates that are sent from pages you have become a Fan of.
Your Name Clicking on your name in the blue menu bar gives takes you to your profile page. See 'Profile' above.
Settings You have quite a lot of control over your settings in Facebook, especially where it comes to making your information public or private. It is worth spending some time going through each section of the settings so you can be sure you have things how you want.
Instant messaging Facebook also has an instant messaging feature. You'll find it at the very bottom of your screen on the right labelled 'Chat'. You'll see a green dot when you are shown as online to others. If you don't want people to know you're online, click the Chat button and choose 'Go Offline' under 'Options' in the pop-up box.
Applications You can search for through all Facebook's applications by clicking 'Applications' on the bottom left of your screen. Choose 'Browse More Applications' from the pop-up box.
Twitter is a social networking site, which lets you send and read messages from 'twitterers' anywhere in the world FOR FREE! It's a great way to find people who have the same interests as you or link up with family and friends. You can even follow your favourite brands - such as Gameseek!
How to Get Started It's free to join Twitter and getting started is really easy. All you need to do is go to twitter.com and click on the 'Sign up now' button.
Fill in your name, username, password and email address then click the 'Create my account button'. And that's it - you're all set up!
Your user name will become your Twitter name so think about this carefully. What do you want to be known as?
On Twitter you'll be referred to with the '@' sign. To give you an example, our username is gameseek and we are known as @gameseek. There are some other things you can do (we'll go through those a bit later), but for all intents and purposes, you are now ready to tweet!
How Twitter Works A 'tweet' is the message you write into the empty box at the top of the screen – the 'What's happening?' box. You'll notice it has 140 written above it. This is how many characters you have left for your tweet, and the longest tweet you can write is 140 characters long, including spaces. Go on – give it a whirl!
The 3 ways of Messaging 1) talking to everyone The first page you'll see is your Home Page. This page brings together tweets from all the people you follow and shows you what they are talking about right now. When you write a tweet, your message will appear in this stream, too, you'll effectively be writing to everyone. Your followers will be able to read what you're up to by checking out their own Home Page.
2) talking to someone in public Click 'Home' in the top menu bar then click on your user name in the panel on the right-hand side (you'll see your name preceeded by the '@' sign). Now you'll see who's talking directly to you. To talk directly to someone, begin the message with his or her twitter name, for example @gameseek. If you want all your followers to see what you're writing to that person, add their twitter name somewhere else in the message instead.
3) talking to someone in private When you reply to someone as just described, your message can still be seen by others. If you want to keep a message private, send a 'direct message' instead. You'll find 'Direct Messages' in the panel on the right-hand side. You can only send a message this way if you and the person you want to contact are both following each other. Another way to send your direct message is to go to the twitter page of the person you want to contact and click 'message' in the 'Actions' section in the panel.
Setting a Profile Go to the 'Settings' page and you can add a little information about yourself, but be concise - you only have space for 160 characters. You can add a link to your website or blog in the separate URL field.
ia the Settings page you can also: Enable tweeting through your mobile phone – choose 'Mobile' Add a picture to your profile – choose 'Picture' (it will need to be square and a maximum of 700k) Change your background image - choose 'Design'
Private or Public You can keep your twitter stream totally private and accept only the people you know as followers or you can embrace the 'twittersphere' and let anyone follow you and join in your conversations. To keep your stream private, simple tick the 'Protect my tweets' box under 'Settings' and every time someone chooses to follow you, you'll get an alert where you can accept them should you choose.
Finding People to Follow You can find people to follow in a number of ways. Here are some ideas to get you started:
Ask your friends and family for their Twitter names Click on 'Find People' in Twitter's menu - you'll find us by typing 'gameseek' in the search field Use the search field on your Twitter page to search the subjects you like and click on anyone you find interesting Check out directory sites such as justtweetit.com Find 'MrTweet' and follow his instructions for discovering people you might be interested in
When you find someone you want to follow, just click on their name or profile picture to go to their twitter page then click on the 'Follow' button under their image.
Keyword Searching Twitter features a keyword search field in the right-hand-side panel. To discover what people are saying about subjects that interest you, simply try searching for keywords.
#Hashtags To increase searchability or create groupings, some twitterers use hashtags joined to the beginning word or phrase of interest with no spaces between, for example, #MW2, or #Bayonetta. The website hashtags.org keeps track of what is trending in this way.
